PDWCP enabled Karachi to handle next-generation global shipping by accommodating post-Panamax container vessels with deeper drafts and higher TEU capacity. TCI’s scope included top supervision and QA/QC for 26+ million cubic meters of dredging, rubble-mound breakwater construction, sand dike stability monitoring, and marine navigation aids. Engineering oversight focused on structural durability, operational safety, and hydrodynamic performance under high-energy coastal wave conditions. Since becoming operational in 2013, the terminal has sharply increased Karachi Port Trust’s throughput and strengthened Pakistan’s competitiveness in regional container trade, reducing congestion and port turnaround times.
