Project Summary

The Greater Karachi Bulk Water Supply Project (K-IV) is one of Pakistan’s most critical water sector initiatives, conceived to meet Karachi’s rapidly growing domestic, commercial, and industrial demands. Phase-1 will supply 260 million gallons of potable water per day through a 207 km long, 2,100 mm diameter, 20-bar high-pressure pipeline system originating from Keenjhar Lake. The transmission system includes large-capacity pumping stations, terminal reservoirs, and chlorination units to ensure consistent supply security. As lead consultant, TCI is delivering the complete engineering lifecycle — from concept development, detailed design, hydraulic modelling, route optimization, and environmental assessments to tender documentation and full construction supervision. Once commissioned, K-IV will provide a transformational improvement in municipal water availability, helping stabilize Karachi’s water-energy-urban growth nexus and strengthen resilience for more than 20 million residents.
